The Problem with Hard Water

Before the water you use every day is piped into your home, your city first puts it through an extensive water treatment process. Hard water is water with a high concentration of calcium and magnesium. These minerals are not harmful to you, but they pose a significant threat to your home’s plumbing pipes. As hard water flows through the pipes in your home, it will deposit small amounts of its minerals on them. Over time, these mineral deposits will grow into lime scale. Lime scale is a white, chalky substance that can accumulate in your pipes, restricting the flow of water through them down to a trickle. Furthermore, if not caught in time, the lime scale in your pipes can harden. This makes it more or less impossible to remove the lime scale without damaging the pipe, which means the entre thing will need to be replaced.

A water treatment system will make sure that the molecules present in hard water are neutralized before they can enter your plumbing system, protecting your home from lime scale.
