Signs That You Need a Water Treatment System

Oct 10, 2016

Before your water enters your home, it is likely put through a pretty extensive municipal water treatment plant. There, the majority of the harmful substances that can be found in water are removed. The water is then piped into your home. That treatment process isn’t perfect, however. There will always be some small traces of harmful elements and other contaminants in your home’s water. If you want to keep your home much more safe from those kinds of things, you need to install a water treatment system. Let’s take a look at the signs that you need a water treatment system.

Calcium Deposits

Hard water is water with a high level of calcium and magnesium content in it. Though harmless to you, hard water deposits small amounts of these minerals on surfaces that are exposed to it. Over a long period of time, calcium deposits can build up to the point where they restrict the flow of water through the pipes in your home. This is called lime scale. If you see a white, chalky substance building up on the surface of your shower or around your faucet, it likely means that you have lime scale in your pipes. You need a water treatment system to counteract the effects of hard water.

Strange Tastes

Tap water is often eschewed in favor of purified water, for a number of reasons. Taste is one of the primary ones. If your tap water tastes especially bad, though, it could mean that you have a more serious problem that needs to be dealt with using a water treatment system. Have a professional examine your plumbing system to make sure.
