The Benefits of Scheduling Pipe Inspection

Oct 30, 2017

Why Pipe Inspection?

The main issue with plumbing problems is that they’re very hard to detect without professional training and equipment. If you don’t know what to look for, you very likely won’t notice a problem with your plumbing system until it’s become quite bad indeed. You don’t want to have the problem repaired after it’s already caused a lot of damage to the system. If you want to have it fixed beforehand, though, you’re going to need to find it before it starts manifesting symptoms. The best way to do that is with pipe inspection.

What is Pipe Inspection?

The most common type of pipe inspection is video pipe inspection. This involves pushing a camera on a cord through the pipe. As the camera travels through the pipe, it sends a live feed of the pipe walls back to the plumber controlling it. This allows your plumber to highlight areas of the pipe that might need repairs, and fix them before they get any worse. Regular pipe inspection is a great way to make sure that your plumbing system is in good shape at all times. It significantly lowers the chances of a serious problem occurring in the system without being noticed. Doing this on a consistent basis can go a very long way towards lowering repair costs, and extending the lifespan of various parts of your plumbing system by a number of years.

When to Schedule Pipe Inspection

Unlike climate control systems, plumbing systems don’t really have areas where they are under increased demand when compared to the rest of the year. As such, it’s not terribly important when you schedule pipe inspection for your system. Except, maybe don’t do it in the middle of winter when the ground is frozen. What matters more is that you schedule it on a consistent basis, which should be at least once every year or two.

While pipe inspection cannot guarantee that your system will never experience any sort of problem between maintenance appointments, it will significantly lower the odds of such a thing developing too far without being caught. So, make sure you have a pipe inspection done on your plumbing system this year, if you haven’t had it done before. You’ll be glad you did, the first time it happens to catch anything serious afflicting your pipes.
