At Lutz Plumbing, we have dedicated ourselves in assisting our community with efforts to become more environmentally responsible, one home at a time. Help us in our efforts by making your home as energy efficient as possible, while also saving money while you do it!
Water is a precious resource and we all know the importance of using as little as possible in order to preserve this limited staple of livelihood. There are the tried and true methods of conserving water such as hand washing dishes vs. using the dishwasher, turning faucets off when brushing teeth and washing face and hands, limiting the use of outdoor faucets and garden hoses, and so many more, but did you know there are plumbing fixtures you can install to save even more water while continuing normal usage of said fixtures? Lutz Plumbing can install toilets, faucets and even water heaters that use less water to get the same “jobs” done in your home. These items include:
Dual Flush Toilets – You choose the gallons per flush (gpf). Either 1.1 or 1.6 gpf, depending on the need. Most Dual Flush Toilet owners have found they only need the 1.1 gpf setting which will save half a gallon of water on every flush. These toilets are available in gravity and pressure assist models.
Tankless Water Heaters – Heats only the water you need, when you need it. It stays hot so you aren’t running water for an extended period of time before it properly heats up. If hot water is not being used, no energy is being used. If installed correctly, tankless water heaters can save up to 35% of your heating costs.
Eco Friendly Bathroom and Kitchen Faucets and Showerheads – Don’t flush money down the toilet during each hot shower or and every time you wash your hands or do the dishes. Newly introduced, water efficient fixtures use 1.5 gallons of water per minute, which is up to 32% less water than old models.
There are many other important things to keep up on in your home to improve water and energy efficiency. On top of installing the fixtures recommended above, it's also important to keep your eyes peeled for other common problems that cause you to lose large amounts of water on a regular basis, which in the end, affect your wallet as well! Make sure you check your faucets and showerheads for leaks; the little drips you hear from your leaky faucets add up fast! Be conscious of the amount of water you waste while performing daily routines like brushing your teeth or showering. A small amount of water saved in one day can add up to a whole lot in a month or a year. Call Lutz Plumbing for more information on these products, our services, or various other things that can help you save water and money, benefiting both your family and the environment.
